​Nanchang University (NCU) is a comprehensive university listed among the “World First-class Disciplines” in China's “Double First-Class” Initiative. NCU, as a whole, falls into the category of the First-Class Universities Construction Project of Jiangxi Province. The School of Tourism at NCU originated from the Discipline of Tourism, founded in 1993. It became an independent college in 2000 and was later integrated into the School of Economics and Management in 2003. As Jiangxi's first institution to offer a tourism undergraduate program, it now serves as a key talent development base and a tourism think tank for the Jiangxi Province. On May 18, 2017, supported by the Jiangxi Provincial Government and the former Provincial Tourism Development Commission, NCU and the Jiangxi Tourism Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly establish a new, distinctive tourism college, characterized by pioneering structure, agile mechanisms, high-impact output, and global outlook.
